Ski season in the Alps

Heart Hotels is looking for Hotel Manager  for the winter season 24/25

As a Hotel Manager, you will have the overall responsibility for ensuring that our guests have a fantastic experience at our hotel and enjoy a seamless ski vacation.

THE JOB

As a Hotel Manager, you will have the overall responsibility for ensuring that our guests have a fantastic experience at our hotel and enjoy a seamless ski vacation. But you won’t be handling everything alone. Alongside your Danish, Swedish, and other international colleagues, including trained chefs and a hotel staff of between 4-35 employees, you will manage the daily operations of your hotel and provide excellent service to your guests. Most of our hotels offer half-board, while the rest offer quarter-board.

In return, you will have an experience of a lifetime with many work-related challenges, social interactions with guests and colleagues from an international environment, and world-class skiing.

Requirements before applying:

  • First Aid Certification: You must have completed a first aid course or complete one before the season begins.
  • Mandatory Manager Course: You must be able to attend the mandatory manager course from November 15-17, 2024, inclusive.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the hotel from A-Z.
  • Staff management and scheduling.
  • Budget and financial follow-up.
  • Contact with selected suppliers and partners (e.g., ordering goods).
  • Guest service – from arrival through daily service to departure.
YOU

Your Profile

  • Solution-Oriented: You will often face unfamiliar situations where help is far away – you need to be able to quickly understand new situations, form a solid overview, and make decisions.
  • Robust: You often stand alone and must be comfortable in your own company. You will encounter many unexpected problems, which should be seen as opportunities to learn new facets of reality.
  • IT/Administration: A significant part of your workday will be spent in front of a computer. Basic IT skills are essential, especially navigating Excel spreadsheets.
  • Economics: As a Hotel Manager, you lead the way in meeting financial goals concerning revenue and costs at the hotel – from bar sales to purchasing food, laundry services, office supplies, etc. Weekly follow-ups are necessary for success in this role.
  • Concept Understanding: You know who you are and what you stand for but accept working under a strictly controlled concept, adhering to the company’s values and budgets.
  • Planning and Adaptability: You can plan and prioritize your time and your employees’ time, respecting deadlines. You are also ready to quickly switch to a plan B as unforeseen things often occur in the Alps.
  • Restaurant and Bar: Experience in the hospitality industry is an advantage but not required. The key is leading in sales and service in our bars and restaurants, which form a significant part of our service and concept.
  • Leadership: You lead by example, inspiring others to follow. Leadership over a young staff requires a different approach and mindset, and you should be prepared to step into the schedule in cases of injury, illness, or resignations.
  • Host: Naturally, you will interact with guests, discuss various topics, and understand their issues regarding their stay.
  • Life in the Alps: You are motivated to be in a ski environment on top of a mountain, where skiing is a bonus.
  • Language Skills: Fluent English is required. German is a big advantage but not necessary.
  • Education and Experience: Your background and education are not decisive. We have had great success with various personalities and educational levels as Hotel Managers. Successful managers are often strong in many of the points mentioned above and willing to learn what they lack.
US
